When my phone’s alarm went off, I yawned. I considered throwing the damn thing across the room, I was so tired. I rolled over and grabbed the pillow where Roan had laid his head. It still smelled like him. Fresh and a hint of pine. I hated the fact that he’d left at two o’clock.

“Baby, it’s a small town. If my truck is still here in the morning, everyone will know that I spent the night with you after only being home a week. You don’t need that kind of gossip.”

I’d tried to talk him into staying, but it hadn’t done any good. But thinking about it in the morning light, I could see he was probably right.

“Dammit!” I yelled at my phone as it started beeping again. “I’ll get up.”

I rolled over and grabbed my phone and on my third attempt and finally shut off the alarm, yawning once more. I flopped back down onto my pillow and considered calling in sick. I just wanted to sleep and dream of last night.

Thinking about Roan made me shudder.

The way he touched me and the way I responded was out of this world. I’d never had a lover like him. Never. Not that I’d had a lot. Hell, I could count them on one hand. But still, even if I could count them on two, I would bet that Roan would still make the rest sad memories.

I looked up at the ceiling and took a deep breath. I adored sex with Roan.

Okay, okay. We didn’t have sex, we made love. I adored making love with Roan. But it scared the hell out of me. I wasn’t supposed to feel this way. Especially after only knowing the guy for a week.

But he got me. He seemed to really understand me, and wasn’t that just kind of nice, weird and creepy?

“Up and at ‘em.” I jumped out of bed. No more thinking anything about Roan as creepy, that’s just wrong.

I hit the bathroom and took care of business, brushed my teeth, and went to the kitchen to start the coffee. Coffee was definitely going to be needed as soon as I got out of the shower.

When I went back to the bathroom I stopped just as I was getting ready to get under the hot water.

What the hell?

My hair looked like sex hair. I hadn’t seen that look in over three years. I thought back to Roan’s fingers tangling through my curls. The man seemed captivated by the scent of my strawberry shampoo. I stepped into the shower and looked over all of my different scented shampoos. It was definitely going to be strawberry from here on out.

When I got out of the shower I headed back to the kitchen and grabbed my coffee. I looked in my fridge to decide on breakfast. I’d gone shopping a couple of days ago, so I knew there was some yogurt. I grinned when I saw the leftover cobbler.

Score.

I took it out of the fridge, grabbed a spoon, and headed to my desk to see if the shop had any new emails.
